A winner for Devon in the ‘Postcards from the Park’ photo competition

Today, Martyn Norsworthy’s fabulous photo of Royal Victoria Park in Bath has been chosen as the South West winner of the UK-wide ‘Postcards from the Park’ photo competition. Martyn lives in Kingsbridge, Devon.

The photo, entitled, “Autumn Rays”, impressed the judges who included celebrated photographer Mike McCartney (brother of Paul) and Damien Demolder, editor of Amateur Photographer Magazine

Joanna Lumley to announce the winner
The overall winner of the competition will be announced by Joanna Lumley at a launch reception on 19th September 2007. All regional and country winners’ photos will be professionally curated and displayed at an exhibition at the Mile End Arts Pavilion in London between 19th-26th September 2007. All the winning photos will also be turned into postcards and distributed in Lottery-funded venues across the UK.

Photographer and main judge, Mike McCartney, said: “This competition has really proved how popular parks are. I have been so impressed by the standard of entries and Martyn Norsworthy’s photo captures the very essence of why so many people love their local park.”

Joanna Lumley, actress and Patron of Mile End Park, said: "Parks are among the UK's most treasured features and the ‘Postcards from the Park’ competition was a great way of celebrating that fact.”
